社區是構成社會體系的基本單位， 也是個人、家庭，
與各類團體組織的集合體。 「走出家門即社區」，社區中的市場、商店、醫療院所、學校 與衛生、警察機關等，均能提供個人或家庭日常基本生活所需， 可見社區與現代人之生存有密不可分的關係。 美國學者Warren(1972)提到社區五大功能 1. 經濟及生產功能：如各種經濟生產、運銷以及消費活動等。 2. 政治及治安功能：如各種社區自治組織的成立運作、治安維持和守望相助。 3. 教育及社會化功能：如知識教育、技藝傳授和文化傳承等。 4. 社會及服務功能：如宗教聚會和情感支持及社會福利服務等。 5. 參與及投入功能：如節慶、社團活動、重大公共事務參與投入志願服務 歡迎大家多參與社區活動
